Do You Have a Leaky Gut?

Updated: Jun 8, 2023

Have you heard the term leaky gut? Leaky gut refers to damage to the finger-like projections of the gut wall. It’s associated with an imbalance of bacteria, overgrowth of harmful bacteria, inflammation, damage to the gut wall, and mineral deficiencies.

What does leaky gut do?

It increases intestinal permeability so that harmful bacteria and toxins can leak through the gut wall. The toxins promote further inflammation, toxicity and can lead to food intolerances.

Signs of Leaky Gut:

  • Bloating & gas

  • Diarrhoea, constipation or alternating constipation and diarrhoea

  • Nutritional deficiencies

  • Headaches

  • Brain fog

  • Memory loss

  • Excess fatigue

  • Skin rashes including acne, eczema or rosacea

  • Arthritis or joint pain

It can also be associated with depression, anxiety, ADHD, ADD, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, coeliac disease or Crohn's disease.

The treatment removes any irritants and uses nutrients and herbs to calm, soothe, and repair the gut wall. Natural medicine is excellent at doing this.

If you think you may have a leaky gut, a simple, inexpensive test can be performed at home and sent away to check. Order of this test or treatment of leaky gut is available through a Naturopathic appointment.
